Marla Wiley
For over 30 years, Mrs. Wiley has taught piano all over New England. Since relocating to the northwest in 2021, she has continued to teach students remotely while building up her studio here in Battle Ground. She is a Certified Music Teacher and taught Pre-K through Middle School students in a private school for 10 years. Mrs. Wiley grew up in a musical home and began taking piano lessons at age 7. She studied piano for 10 years and has enjoyed playing keyboard in jazz bands, worship bands, and churches, accompanying choirs, and performing solos. Her love of playing turned into a love of teaching, when she and her husband started a family and she wanted to stay home with their children.
She teaches everything from classical music to blues, but her passion is playing and teaching sacred music. Students learn music theory, notation, scales, arpeggios, performance and accompaniment skills, and more, using a variety of curriculums. She has also had the privilege of coaching some of her students to teach and loves holding recitals together with her students and their students! Two recitals are held each year (two on the east coast and two on the west coast), and she frequently looks for opportunities for her students to play in a variety of settings throughout the community.
The 50 Day Dash, designed by Mrs. Wiley, is a fun competitive practice incentive that challenges students to improve practice habits. Other music teachers use her program as well, with great success. Mrs. Wiley is passionate about teaching and instilling in her students a love for music making that will last a lifetime and beyond!
